VI International Dance Competition

Competition Information

Intending to foster healthy competitiveness, provide solid experience, as well as a platform in which classical, contemporary, neoclassical, and character dance students can conquer artistic challenges, the International Academic Council for the Arts and Dance (CAADI) launches the sixth edition of its International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition.

We are inviting ballet and contemporary dance students and artists who are highly driven towards their goals to participate and seize the opportunity to make their mark in the artistic scene, perform in front of an audience, and potentially be awarded prizes such as: scholarships, cultural exchanges, professional contracts, apprenticeships amongst others.

We welcome participants 4 - 30 years old in the following dance styles:

  • Ballet 

  • Contemporary

  • Character dances

  • Neoclassical

Participants can compete in the following categories:

  • Soloists

  • Duets

  • Trios

  • Assemblies

    All performances must be presented in full stage attire and makeup.

Judging Criteria and Awards

Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded in each category and dance style. The jury will also offer study scholarships, summer course opportunities, cultural exchanges, contracts with dance companies, apprenticeships, and dance training opportunities. Judging will be based on a 100-point system: 50% for technical skill and 50% for artistic performance. Results will be posted on our website.

  • The competition will take place at the Teatro Metropolitano, located at Paseo de las Artes #1531, Centro Sur, 76090 Santiago de Querétaro, QRO, México.
    The stage dimensions are 10 x 12 meters, with a linoleum floor.

  • Registration opens on February 1st, 2025.

  • The registration deadline is July 1st, 2025, or when capacity is reached.

  • Participants can compete in any of the four dance styles: ballet, contemporary, character dance, or neoclassical.

  • A single registration fee applies for each participant.

  • Registration is required for each performance, whether competing as a soloist, duet, trio, or ensemble.

  • The competition is divided into age categories, determined by the participant’s age on the event date.

  • For duets, trios, and ensembles, the average age of the participants will determine their category.

  • All classical repertoire variations are accepted.

  • Music must be submitted in high-quality .mp3 format by July 1st, 2025. Tracks that are not properly edited will not be accepted. It is the responsibility of participants to secure copyright permissions for both choreography and music.

  • General registration is also open to those who wish to attend the masterclasses without competing.

  • All registered participants will receive a participation certificate, regardless of whether they compete.

  • The jury will award scholarships, prizes, exchanges, and invitations. Their decisions are final, and some awards may be voided.d invitations, and their decisions are final. Some awards may be voided.

    Maximum time: 2:30 minutes


  • Classical repertoire variation (on pointe), contemporary, character, or neoclassical.
    Maximum time: 2:30 minutes

  • Classical repertoire variation (on pointe), contemporary, character, or neoclassical.
    Maximum time: 3:00 minutes


  • Classical repertoire variation (on pointe), contemporary, character, or neoclassical.
    Maximum time: 3:30 minutes


  • Classical repertoire variation (half-point), contemporary, character, or neoclassical.
    Maximum time: 2:30 minutes

  • Average age of participants
    Classical repertoire: Adagio and Coda only
    Maximum time: 6 minutes

Aplication Fee

Step #1 - Participant Aplication: $104 USD

Includes:

This fee is applied once per participant, even if they register for multiple choreographies. Registration is also open to those who wish to attend the masterclasses and experience the event as spectators, even if they aren’t competing.

Step #2 - Register for the Competition 

Early Registration (February 15th to March 31st):

  • Soloist: $110 USD

  • Duet: $69 USD each

  • Trio: $57 USD each

  • 4 to 7 participants: $47 USD each

  • 8 or more participants: $38 USD each

Regular registration (April 1st to May 30th):

  • $10 USD more than the early registration fee

Late registration (June 1st tu July 1st):

  • $19 USD more than the early registration fee

Rules & Regulations

  1. Space is limited, and registration will close once capacity is reached.

  2. The competition order will be based on age and dance style.

  3. All competitors must appear in full costume and makeup.

  4. The awards ceremony and certificate distribution will take place after the Gala.

  5. Scholarships, prizes, and invitations will only be awarded to competitors who are present at the closing ceremony.

  6. General public tickets for category performances are priced at $19 USD.

  7. General public tickets for the Gala range from $19 USD to $29 USD, depending on the selected seating area.

  8. All attendees must purchase tickets for any performance.

  9. Photography and video recording are prohibited during performances and the Gala.

  10. Disrupting the event or using phones during performances is prohibited.

  11. Late arrivals will not be allowed to enter their seats until intermission to avoid disturbing performers and distracting the audience.

  12. Applause at the end of performances is encouraged, and expressions such as "Bravo!" are welcome.

  13. No payments or fees are refundable or transferable under any circumstances, whether to other individuals or for different purposes.

  14. The organizers, the theater, and the staff are not responsible for lost items or property damage.

  15. All participants must sign and submit the rules, medical waiver, and image release by August 1st, 2025. For minors, these must be signed by a parent or guardian.
